Exploring Tokyo
神田明神の後はそのすぐ近くに
ある史跡 湯島聖堂へ…
歴史的には徳川5代将軍綱吉が1690年に
作ったそうですが、建物は大正12年の関東大震災で
焼失し昭和10年に再建されたそうです。
幕府直轄の学問所で日本学校教育発祥の地だそう。
重厚感と迫力のある建造物で見物客が他に
誰もいなかったのもあり、
当時にまるで一人タイムトリップして
しまった様な不思議な感覚になりました…
After Kanda Myojin, I went to the Yushima Seido,
a historical site located nearby...
Historically, the temple was built in 1690
by Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, the 5th shogun,
but the building was destroyed by fire
in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 and rebuilt in 1935.
The building is so massive and powerful that
there were no other visitors,
and I felt as if I had time-traveled back to that time...
